Describe your hiring and interview process?
For several roles we start by doing a group interview and will narrow down candidates to invite back for a 1:1 interview. Some positions will require a working interview as well. Once our successful candidate is identified, references are checked and an offer is made.
What do you look for in an employee?
We look for employees who are are first and foremost people focused. Teamwork is very important at our organization as is our mandate of supporting people.
What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
Minimum high school diploma is required for all positions, and any post-secondary education would be role-dependent.
What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
There is no minimum age, but as mentioned, candidates must possess a high school diploma.
Provide a wage range for entry level positions.
Entry level positions start at $18.65 an hour with an increase to $20.60 an hour after successful completion of the probationary period.
What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
CHS is open Monday to Friday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our full-time positions are either 36 hours or 37.5 hours per week depending on the role. Part-time positions will have a defined number of hours per week required but our casual positions offer flexibility around school schedules and other commitments.
