HomeFree Homecare Careers

When did your business open?

1/25/2026

How many people work for your company/organization? How many locally? How many locations do you have in Calgary and across Canada/internationally? What locations are hiring locally in Calgary and area?

We provide caregiving and healthcare services in our clients' homes. Currently we're operating in Calgary and surrounding areas (Airdrie, Okotoks, High River, etc.)

How many people work for your company/organization? How many locally?

We have approximately 100 employees, all of whom work in Calgary.

What types of positions do you offer? (Ie. Full time, part time, seasonal, contract etc.)

We offer a variety of positions, from full-time to casual. Most of our care providers are hourly employees.

What are the benefits of working for your company? Discounts, incentives, scholarships etc.

There's a range of benefits to working with HomeFree.   We offer competitive wages with structured wage increases over time. We also offer consistent but flexible scheduling.   Our care professionals are supported by our clinical team of physicians and a dedicated Care Manager. We offer simplified systems for scheduling, communication, and care planning to minimize administrative tasks.   We also offer professional development: we provide comprehensive training, tailored on a case-by-case basis, to ensure our care professionals are comfortable and prepared for each client's specific requirements. Further, high-performing care professionals have growth opportunities within the business, including mentoring peers and progressing into leadership roles (like Lead Caregiver and Care Manager).   On top of that, we offer a values-driven environment - our company is built on excellence, ingenuity, ownership, and a human-centered approach to care, as well as the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and fast-growing company.

What kinds of opportunities exist for career latticing or lattering?

Especially because we're growing quickly as a business, there are many opportunities for career growth within HomeFree. Care professionals have the opportunity to progress their careers as Lead Caregivers and Care Managers. There are also opportunities to move laterally within the business to other operational groups, including Sales, Scheduling, and Resourcing/Recruiting.

Please list any social responsibility initiatives your organization is currently involved in.

HomeFree is committed to helping older adults thrive at home for life and to making caregiving a meaningful career for our employees. As part of this, we aim to reduce caregiver burnout by providing consistent, high-quality, flexible, and supported shifts.

How would someone find out about opportunities at your company? How can a candidate apply?

We encourage all interested applicants to inquire about and apply for roles through our website, homefreehomecare.com, or by contacting careers@homefree.care and/or joey.wenig@homefree.care.

Describe your hiring and interview process?

Our hiring process for care professionals works as follows.   We invite candidates to apply with a resume and cover letter, and we ask them to fill out a short questionnaire with information regarding their qualifications and professional background. Selected candidates will be invited for an initial interview, conducted via virtual meeting (Google Meet). Candidates who move on to the next stage of the hiring process will be invited to meet in-person with one or more of our Care Managers for a further discussion of their background and experience and potential client matches. Candidates who are offered employment will undergo a thorough onboarding and orientation process, including training tailored to specific client requirements.

What do you look for in an employee?

We're looking for candidates who will excel in providing the highest-quality care to our clients. This means we're looking for applicants who can interact well with a wide range of people, work as part of a team, and are service-oriented. Of course, we are also looking for reliable people with strong communication and organization skills.

What type of education/training/equipment do you require?

There's no minimum educational requirement. That said, we prioritize applicants with some experience in caregiving; this could include, for example, caring for a family member or volunteer work with community organizations.

What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?

Our care professionals must be 18 years or older.

Provide a wage range for entry level positions.

The starting hourly wage for caregivers with HomeFree is $25/hour. We have a structured wage progression for caregivers based on performance.

What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?

We have a range of shift times and lengths depending on client requirements, including weekday and weekend morning, daytime, evening, and night shifts. We have a minimum shift length of 4 hours.

Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?

We don't have a uniform, but our care professionals are required to dress appropriately when they're working with our clients. Our expectation is that caregivers will dress in a manner that respects the client's personal space and the professional nature of the caregiver's role.
