The Youth Employment Centre asked MathPro to answer a few questions about their company. 


How long have you been in business? 

We have been in business over 18 years. 

How many locations do you have in Calgary and nationally/internationally? What locations are hiring locally in Calgary and area? 

There are 5 locations in Calgary and we are hiring year round at all locations. 

How many people does your organization employ? How many locally? 

Locally we employ 70-80 people 

What type of positions do you offer?  (ex. Full time, part time, seasonal, contract etc.) 

We offer contract positions and part time tutoring positions. 

What are the benefits of working for your company? 

Competitive hourly rate, and flexibility; works with staff's availability. Tutoring sessions take place in our learning centres so no traveling around the city to customers homes. MathPro offers full support from managers and the administrative team. 

Describe opportunities for advancement. 

Managers conduct performance reviews with staff. Staff are eligible for wage adjustments subject to performance and client and manager feedback. 

How would someone find out about opportunities at your company? How can a candidate apply?

Candidates can learn more about the opportunities at MathPro by visitng the career page of our website. Youth can also apply through the University of Calgary Job Board (Elevate). We also share information about our company on Facebook and Instagram


Describe your hiring and interview process? 

MathPro does a virtual interview followed by a candidate assessment test (Math/Calculus/Sciences). After the assessment candidates will undergo a reference check and a police background check. 

What do you look for in an employee? 

We look for candidates who are dedicated and patient with excellent communication skills. Candidates should be competent in teaching Grade 4-12 Alberta Math and Science curriculums.

Other qualities we look for are teamwork skills and a passion in helping young students and be able to adapt to different learning styles and pace. 

What type of education/training/equipment do you require? 

Interested candidates should be working towards or have at least a University undergraduate degree, ideally in the field of Math/Science or related discipline (Math, General Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering etc.). Education students are also welcome to apply. 

What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions? 

The minimum age requirement is 18+. 


Provide a wage range for entry level positions. 

The wage range is $19-21/hour. 

What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules? 

Most tutoring sessions take place after 4:00 p.m. weekdays and times may vary over the weekend. Ideally candidates should be available for a minimum of 6 hours per week. 

MathPro does offer flexibility regarding school schedules and work with staff's availability and schedules. 

Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it? 

No uniform is required but respectable and presentable attire is required.
