The International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers 110 is a trade union representing insulators. The insulation trade is a three-year apprenticeship program in Alberta. Insulators generally work in industrial or commercial settings and apply, remove and repair thermal and acoustic insulation.

If you become a registered apprentice and you follow the instructions of that program, you can advance every year up to journeyperson status in three years. There are possibilities expand to a wide variety of different career paths following this.

Describe your hiring and interview process?
A formal interview is not required. Candidates need to meet minimum requirements of Grade 12 transcripts with Grade 10 English and Math from a Canadian High School, driver’s license or government issued photo I.D., and CSTS 09. Potential insulators can reach out to an officer of the hall. The officer will share about the trade, so candidates understand what they’re in for in this career.

What type of education/training/equipment do you require? Minimum grade 12
What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Generally, 18 some companies will hire 17.
Provide a wage range for entry level positions. $17.98-$24.70
What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Hours of work may vary but generally 40 hours a week. There is potential for high school students in the summer.
What type of education/training/equipment do you require? Minimum grade 12
What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Generally, 18 some companies will hire 17.
