Staff can build experience in different departments, develop new skills, earn certifications, and take on leadership opportunities. Many of our current leaders started in entry-level positions and have grown their careers through both laddering and latticing opportunities.

Social responsibility is a core part of what we do. We work to reduce financial barriers through fee assistance, provide leadership and employment opportunities for youth, create inclusive spaces for all community members, and partner with local organizations to increase access to recreation and wellness programs. Our goal is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, belong, and thrive.

Describe your hiring and interview process?
Our hiring process begins with an application and resume review, followed by interviews with selected candidates. We assess technical skills where applicable, but we also place a strong emphasis on customer service, teamwork, reliability, and attitude. For youth and entry-level applicants, we value volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, and a willingness to learn. Successful candidates complete reference checks and onboarding before starting their role.
What do you look for in an employee?
We look for positive, reliable people who enjoy working with others and are eager to learn. Strong customer service skills, teamwork, communication, and a willingness to take initiative are often more important than previous work experience. We can teach the job, but attitude and commitment to our community are what really make someone successful at Trico Centre.
What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
Requirements vary by position, but many entry-level roles provide on-the-job training. Depending on the role, employees may require certifications such as First Aid/CPR, National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, High Five, or Alberta Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification for child care positions. A Police Information Check may also be required. Trico Centre provides the equipment, uniforms, and training needed for staff to be successful.

Because Trico Centre operates from early morning to late evening, seven days a week, we offer a wide variety of shifts across multiple departments. Hours can range from casual and part-time to full-time, depending on the role. We employ many students and do our best to provide flexibility around classes, exams, and school schedules while balancing operational needs.
Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?
We provide uniforms.
