How long have you been in business?
We have been serving Calgary since 1992 when we were Window Works. In 2012 we merged into Men In Kilts Calgary and have been wearing the kilts proudly ever since.
How many locations do you have in Calgary and nationally/internationally? What locations are hiring locally in Calgary and area?
Men In Kilts Calgary is a locally owned franchise with other locations in Edmonton, Red Deer, Canmore/Banff. We have franchises across North America, 17 in total. Right now Calgary and Edmonton are hiring.
How many people does your organization employ? How many locally?
In Calgary currently we have 45 staff. As we move into our busy season we will be growing. Most of our staff are long term and local workers.
What type of positions do you offer? (ex. Full time, part time, seasonal, contract etc.)

As Covid-19 has impacted and slowed our business we have offered to do free grocery runs for seniors and others who are isolated and unable to get to the grocery store. We communicate with the seniors, pick up their groceries and deliver to their doorstep.
Men In Kilts also does a lot of community involvement. Including giving silent auction packages to different organizations and support local community events for marketing.

Describe your hiring and interview process?
We ask some questions through email and then schedule a skype call to meet face to face and discuss the role and make sure there is a fit both ways.
What do you look for in an employee?
Someone who is hard working, has great attention to detail, and is excited to be wearing a kilt. We look for candidates to be comfortable working outside and climbing ladders. Required: Driver's license and a clean drivers abstract.
What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
We will do all of the training and providing of equipment. No previous knowledge or experience required.
What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
We are hiring technicians who are 18 years or older.
Provide a wage range for entry level positions.
Our Apprentice Technicians starts at $18 per hour for the first month and then moves onto a commission system that will earn them more based upon their efforts.
What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
Our full time positions can provide full time hours. We work Monday-Friday with optional work on Saturday. General hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?
We provide the employees with full uniform including kilt and shirts. Employees are required to have black steel toe boots.
