How long have you been in business?
Decore Hotels is a family owned business with two hotel properties in Jasper; Tonquin Inn and Maligne Lodge. The Decore family has been in the hospitality industry for over 50 years.
How many locations do you have? What locations are hiring?
We are currently recruiting for positions for both of our hotel properties in Jasper, Alberta.
How many people does your organization employ? How many locally?
The organization employs 60 - 100 employees depending on the season and operational need.
What type of positions do you offer? (ex. Full time, part time, seasonal, contract etc.)
We offer Full time positions.
We are looking for members to join our team long term, however I am open to short term contract positions of a minimum of 4 months.
What are the benefits of working for your company? Staff discounts, incentive programs, scholarships etc.
All employees are offered subsidized accommodation, which is payroll deductible. Rent payments range from $9- $13.25/ daily depending on accommodation style, which is incredibly affordable to live in Jasper National Park.
All employees are entitled to our benefits plan as of their first day of work, which offers healthcare, prescription drug and dental coverage.
Currently, we also offer subsidized ski passes for Marmot Basin in Jasper.
Describe opportunities for advancement.
There is an opportunity to grow to a supervisory position within our Housekeeping department. Operational experience in hospitality is considered an asset for any growth opportunities.

Decore Hotels matches every dollar donated by clients booking rooms on their website and directs the funs to numerous kid’s charities such as Jasper Freestyle Association, several hockey teams, Little Warriors and Kids with Cancer.

Describe your hiring and interview process?
I conduct a 20 - 30 minute phone/video conferencing interview with all candidates to learn about their previous work experience.
I also conduct two professional references in order to move forward with any application.
Upon successful interview and reference process, I will follow up regarding the status of your application.
What do you look for in an employee?
- Previous hospitality experience is considered an asset but not required
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Physically active as some positions you to be on your feet all day and can be labor intensive
- Strong interpersonal skills
What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
During your first weeks of employment, you will be trained by a senior employee of your position. You will also have the support of your direct manager to answer any questions you may have.
What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age in order to live in our staff accommodation.
Provide a wage range for entry level positions.
Depending on the position, the hourly wage is $15 - 16 per hour.
What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
As we operate in the hotel industry, we are a 24 hour operation.
- Housekeeping currently works 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the potential for overtime.
- Maintenance typically works 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. as well as on call shifts
- Front Desk typically works 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- We currently have employees who are taking online courses, for which we have accommodated their work schedule.
Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?
Upon onboarding, employees are required to pay $50 for a uniform deposit which is payroll deductible. This deposit is returned upon your departure if you return the uniform in good condition.
