a) How long have you been in business?
Flynn started in 1978 with less than 10 employees and became one of the major roofing and cladding contractors in the prairies.


b) How many locations do you have in Calgary and nationally/internationally? What locations are hiring locally in Calgary and area?
Flynn currently has 35 branches across North America, including one branch located in SE Calgary.


c) How many people does your organization employ? How many locally?
Flynn employs over 4,500 employees across North America.
Our Calgary branch employs on average 240 full-time employees.





d) What type of positions do you offer?  (ex. Full time, part time, seasonal, contract etc.)All of our positions are full-time permanent.

  • Upon Managers approval, costs related to Apprenticeship training (i.e. enrollment & course fees) are paid for through Flynn. Employees attending training also receive EI top up while in school.

  • Community Involvement and Giving Back
Flynn is proud to support the communities where we live, work and play. Their support is the key to our success. We've chosen to give back through fundraising, by supporting charities and supporting local youth sports teams across Canada.
  • Canadian Diabetes Association
For many years we have maintained a strong partnership with the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA). CDA is searching for a cure to a disease affecting over two million Canadians, including Flynn staff and their family members. Our employees participate in CDA fundraisers and activities including Team Diabetes marathon events, draws, sports tournaments and much more.
  • Community Commitment Donations
In addition to continued fundraising efforts for the CDA, Flynn has committed to donating $100,000 annually to charities, causes and organizations directly supporting our employees’ communities. Each month, our charity committee selects an organization to receive donation from Flynn.
  • Local Sports Teams

Flynn staff have been early adopters Green Roofs’ training and accreditation for green roof professionals. i) Describe your hiring and interview process
Should your resume meet the skills/qualifications for the role, you will receive a phone call to set up an interview date & time.
Field candidates are required to meet with the department Superintendent and/or Manager for a formal interview followed by a fit test conducted through Sure Hire.
Office candidates will meet with the Department Manager & HR for a formal interview, followed by a second interview with the Branch Manager.


j) What do you look for in an employee?
We look for candidates who would be a good fit and also have the relevant education/experience required for the role.





k) What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
Education, training and equipment required will vary depending on the role. We recommend that applicants visit our employment website to view the qualifications listed for the role they would be interested in.


l) What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
Our age requirement is 18+ for all positions within our Calgary branch.


m) Provide a wage range for entry level positions.
An employee's salary/hourly rate of pay will depend on the position and department. 


n) What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
Office hours are from 7:00am to 4:00pm or 7:30am to 4:30pm with a one hour lunch break.
Field hours will vary depending on the project demands. Unfortunately there is no flexibility regarding school schedules.


o) Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?
Uniforms are provided to our Service employees. Other divisions are not required to wear a uniform.
