List any corporate responsibility initiatives that your organization is currently involved in.
This is quite a long list, but all can be found on our website at www.thebodyshop.ca. A few are as follows:
- We have been and always will be Forever Against Animal Testing
- We fight to empower women and girls. We are a feminist brand and fighting for equality is in our DNA.
- Our long term goal is to create fully sustainable packaging. Prior to Covid-19, we had a recycling program that encouraged customers to bring back their empty TBS containers to gain points to go towards new product.
How would someone find out about opportunities at your company? How can a candidate apply?

Describe your hiring and interview process?
During the 2020 seasonal hiring process, we adapted an “inclusive hiring” system. What this means is the first person to apply, is the first person to get the opportunity in our store. It is not a promise of employment as standards are still set in place, but it is a promise to welcome anyone to our teams with zero bias. Only three questions are asked: are you legal to work in the country, can you stand for up to 8 hours and can you lift up to 25lb. If you answer yes to all those, there is a discussion around availability will be had but that is it! You start your training with us.
For Management level positions, all applicants are screened from the website and interviewed by shop managers and/or District Managers.
What do you look for in an employee?
We believe that we can teach anyone the knowledge of our product. What we look for is someone who is not scared to initiate conversations with our customers, and tell the amazing stories about our products.
What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
We do not require any level or education or training for part time roles. Management roles we do prefer some experience in a management role previously.
What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
Minimum ages are based on provincial legislation. We do not discriminate against young workers and love having the opportunity to be someone’s first employer to help build that resume. We do understand that school comes first though and in some management positions, a more open availability would be asked.
Entry level positions start at minimum wage.
What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
Hours change from mall to mall and time of year. In general, we function 7 days a week, from about 10am – 9pm. We ask that all staff be available for at least 10 hours a week, with availability during the week and weekends. There is flexibility to school schedules, but they would be based on the needs of the business.
Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?
We do not require any type of uniform. We want employees to be able to express themselves how they like, remembering that we are a professional working environment.
