i) Describe your hiring and interview process?
Fairly easy and straightforward.  After application is received, successful applicants will be called for a short 5-10 minute phone interview, then out of the those successful calls individuals are invited in for an in person interview to better explain the role and ask more technical based questions. If hired, there is online safety training that must be completed, and a full day orientation (safety is especially important for us).

j) What do you look for in an employee?
ULS is looking for reliable, punctual individuals who have a good attitude and are ok with working outside in all weather for long hours.  We will always train on our equipment so if someone comes in and has the right attitude toward work, we are happy to hire them and teach them everything they need to know.

k) What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
Minimum education is grade 12 for most positions, with some exceptions.

l) What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
18 years of age for all positions, with very few exceptions.

m) Provide a wage range for entry level positions.

n) What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
Our hours vary on the season.  Our summer season typically lasts from April to October/early November – that work is typically 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) with occasional weekend work, and hours vary from 8-12 per day (weather dependent).  Our winter season is completely dependent on the weather as we do snow removal.  But we do keep on a number of full time staff throughout the winter months.

Upper body clothing (t-shirts, long sleeves, hoodies) and all Personal Protective Equipment is provided to staff. Staff are required to provide their own steel toed boots at time of hire. We have a safety allowance that allows staff to purchase new boots after six months of full time employment.
